in some classes ,course grades are based only on exams,while in other classes,grades are based more in a class participation than on exams.which type of grading do you prefer and why?
Undoubtedly, nowadays many different exams have been around to evaluate and assess students abilities ,knowledge ,competence and performance .different test have been devised to tap different abilities. multiple choice exam ,diagnostic and prognostic tests ,placement test normative and summative test a are different type of test that devised and validated to tap students knowledge and abilities .familiarity with different type of assessment can help you to gauge someone abilities and performance much better . I believe that delivering a lecture ,working on a project and participation in a class can assessed students as well as a test. When I should deliver a one hour lecture ,I read different articles ,book chapter ,papers and I blend them with my own experiences and reflection .a lecture is a dens but very rich .if it is follow by hot discussion and troubleshooting it would be very useful and constructive .if we conduct a survey and ask students if they like to take a test or participant in a class ,you will see that most of them attend participant in a class and attending a lectures .we human beings socialization ,discussing issues ,raising question in the classroom ,challenging and being challenged . I firmly believe that we can gain a lot more if we participant in a class and contribute with other students ,because each of us have different abilities ,attitude, mentality and talent .it would be better rather than just focusing on a exams. last but not least ,I believe teaching without assessment gets nowhere and that examination s are awfully necessary .to me coursework and being in a class is a task to be evaluated and it is a shape of evaluation .different courses demand different type of assessment and expert and prudent teacher know how to tap students abilities through lectures ,assignment ,task and project as well as a test.
