Today, many people do not know their neighbors.
Why is this?
What can be done about this?
In contemporary society, getting to know each other’s neighbourhood is not believed to be some people’s concern. The following essay will highlight the root causes of this trend as well as providing some plausible solutions.
The first driver of such phenomena is technology intervention. It is easily caught some individuals, especially children, are drawn to their tech items on a regular basis and they prefer spending their time playing on their devices rather than socializing with people living nearby. Possibly, this will result in serious health concerns and social isolation in the long term. Furthermore, personal financial development can be considered another determinant to blame for. This is because in the fast-paced and growing world, people are usually occupied with their personal works to increase their livelihood to satisfy daily living demands. As a result, there is a tendency that relationship extension might not be their top priority, leading to an ineffectiveness of networking skills.
There are two viable approaches to address this issue. First of all, parental assistance is requisite in steering children away from high-tech attraction. For example, parents can substitute the time spent on technology by taking them to parks, playgrounds or clubs to encounter new locals. The act of this would play an important role in developing one’s soft skills ranging from communication and adaptability. Another avenue for people busy at work to be mentioned is that they should be self-aware of having a proper and reasonable work-life balance. Instead of being overtime to earn more, it is advised that workers should have availability for their close-by residents in order to engage in interactive conversations. This would not only reduce their work pressure but also strengthen the bond among next doors.
Taking everything into consideration, this reinforces my perspective that technology attraction and the desire to make more money of people are primarily seen as the roots paving the way to not knowing each other despite living in the same area. However, if assistance produced by family and self-awareness are participative in this event, this problem can be effectively addressed.
