Nowadays the way many people interact with each other has changed because of technology. In what ways has technology affected the types of relationships people make? Has this become a positive or negative development?
It is true that because of technological advances the basic ways on how people communicate has significantly changed. There are several obvious impacts that this modern technology has caused and these have not all been beneficial.
In my point of view, there are major reasons why modern ways of interaction between people created a negative trend. Traditional forms of communication are starting to obsolete because of continuous innovation. Moreover, these conventional ways makes communication way more convincing and promising. For example, in the past few decades sending personal message through letters was the primary way to get in touched with people abroad. However, because of the widespread use of different technological communication devices such as mobile phones and computers, writing and sending mails has been no longer used. As a result, communicating with profound sincerity, compassion and love to other people is no longer existing.
In addition, although modern technology has made connecting with people far easier and more convenient, this might produce confusion between persons and mislead them. Take for example a doctor who is giving medical orders through a mobile phone call to a nurse, since sometimes problems on phone-lines are inevitable, the nurse might transcribe wrongly what the doctor said. Furthermore, sending messages through text might cause misunderstanding, unlike when personally stated. There could also be a decreased socializing skills and a declined linguistic activity. Hence, this will negatively affect human relationships.
To end, even though technology has advantages on connecting people, there are much more undesirable impacts that should be considered.
