The reading passage and the lecture are both about humankind’s influence on the birds’ population. The author of the snippet claims that the population of birds is significantly depleting due to the growth of the humankind. On the other hand, the lecturer considers that the statements made in the reading passage are controvertial, and she reinforces her opinion by providng several examples.
First of all, there is identified in the reading fragment that increasing human’s population is leading to the decreasing the area of forests and grasslends, and due to that the bird’s population is depleting. However, the speaker argues that, because the growing infrostructure of the cities provides better and larger habitant for other types of birds, such as pidgions. Consecuently, due to that some species are depleting, but others are inflating , and predators who are feeding by this birds are inflating too.
The subsequent lecturer argument is raleted to the statement made in the excerpt, that usage of ofchemical pesticides eventually can also kill birds. The lecturer disputes this by claiming that nowadays scientists invent more and more novel types of pesticides which are harmless for different species exept insects. And she also states that, invention of pest-resistant crops can deminish pesticides usage in the future. Thus, this problem of negative influence of chemicals on birds will be completely solved.
