The given graph shows the consumption of fast food in the UK (per week) from 1970 to
1990.
The line graph illustrates how much fast food was consumed in the UK over the course of 20 years, starting in 1970. Units are measured in grams.
Overall, the consumption of hamburger and fish and chips increased over the period, while the figure for pizza decreased slightly. It is also noticeable that although pizza was consumed most in the first 10 years, its position was replaced by fish and chips for the remaining period.
In 1970, around 300 grams of pizza was eaten by the British, whereas people in the UK consumed just under 100 grams of fish and chips and approximately 30 grams of hamburger. In the next 10 years, there was a gradual decline to about 200 grams in the consumption of pizza. Meanwhile, the amount of fish and chips and hamburger consumed by British people rose steadily, at 150 and 90 grams respectively.
During the rest of the period, the amount of fish and chips experienced a significant increase and become the most prevailing fast food in 1990, at 500 grams, while the figure for hamburger went up to 300 grams. At the same time, the amount of pizza remained stable, at roughly 200 grams.
