You are due to move into a rented apartment next month but you will not be able to because you have some problems.
Write a letter to the course provider. In your letter,
Explain your situation
Describe your problems
Tell him/her when you think you can move in
Dear Sam,
Hope this letter finds you in good health. I am writing this letter to you regarding our tenancy contract finalized a week earlier. According to the contract i have to move into you house 10 days from now. I regret to inform you i would not be able to move as of now due some unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances.
As you are aware the shifting is a hefty process and it takes a lot of commuting from previous residence to new place. Well, unfortunately, my car has been stolen two days back and at the moment i do not have any conveyance with me, which puts me in to an absurd situation. Furthermore, my current landlord has requested me to extend my stay at his residence for another month as he has failed to manage another tenant. He lives abroad and is coming in a week's time to settle my current tenancy terms with him.
Due to all aforementioned obvious reason, i am afraid i would not be able to shift at your place at the given date. However, in order to compensate and sort out this situation i am ready to pay half month rent. Please acknowledge if you agree. Additionally, by the 10th of next month i will move at your residence. We can make amendments in our tenancy contract as per your consent to my offer.
Kind Regards,
Lizy
