Professor appear in TV
In this set of materials, the reading passage says about professor that appears in TV. The authors has a opnion that is a great benefit to the professors themselves as well as to their universities and general public. However, the professor in the lecture does not agree with statement in the passage and refutes each of the reasons.
First, in the passage the author claims that professors benefit from appearing on television because by doing so they so they acquire reputations as authorities in their academic fields among a much wider audience than they have on campus. The professor opposes this point saying that is not good when a prefessor appears in a TV program since is not a serious and don't discusses academic topics.
Second, the authors says that universities also benefit such appearances. In the lecture the professor doesn’t agree and say that this is not true.
Third, the author affirm that the public gains from professor appearing on television. The professor disagree with this statement and says that the informations in TV is not intectual, they have a background and the informations that they usually pass in TV is not materials that it used in lecture.
