The reading and the lecturer are both about the clay jars that are found in Iraq. The author of the reading states that the archaeologist proposed the vessels which are used to produce electric currents, but the author feels it was not possible to produce currents by using vessels and provides three reasons for support. However, the lecturer refutes each of the author's points by saying none of the reasons are convincing.
First, the article claims that there is no evidence that the vessels are used as batteries because they are not attached to the electric conductors as metal wires. However, the professor refutes this point by saying that the vessels are created by the local people rather than the archeologists. Hence, they might not recognize the material and have unintentionally thrown that material.
Second, the copper cylinders in the jars looked similar to the Seleucia ruins which are used to hold the scrolls of the text. On the other hand, the lecturer opposed this point by saying that it might be true, but the copper cylinder that was surrounded by iron can also produce electricity if it was filled with some liquid. Hence, it would adapt to do another task.
Third, the text conveys that the batteries could not be used for the ancient people because there are no devices that relied on the electricity. Nevertheless, the professor says that these vessels can be used as shocks and magical powers for the people which can reduce or cure the body pains.
