According to the reading passage, the frog species suffer from many environmental problems which they lead to the huge declining in the frog population. The author mentions three potential ways to cease the population declining. However, the professor opposes all of them.
First of all, the author implies that pesticides which are the chemicals used to kill harmful insects are one of the most threatening factors for the frog population. Although pesticides are used by farmers to protect their crops, they can hurt frog species severely. The professor states that the prohibition of pesticides cannot work well on account of the farmers' success in the agriculture and selling their crops has a strong relation to pesticides. These chemicals help the crops to stay competitive in the market. Hence, the restriction of pesticides is not practical for farmers.
Second, the author indicates that the fungus is one of the greatest dangerous factors causes death to frog species. According to the passage, with some treatments such as antifungal medication, we can protect frogs from fungus in large scale. The professor refutes the mentioned statement, she explains that the treatments should implement on the individuals and consequently, protection of all frog species needs an impossible attempt. Therefore, based on the professor statements, these treatments cannot be practical in large scales.
Finally, the author argues that many of the frog species suffer from the habitat threatening and the people who live near the frog habitats should reduce their water consumption. Even though the professor confirms that the wetlands and other frog habitats were destructed, instead she states that the real reason for such a massive destruction is global warming. She implies that the huge limiting regularizations cannot be practical and it is unlikely all the people approve of them.
In brief, the professor and the author give contradicting ideas about the present methods for frog saving. The professor clarifies the problems associated with the above-mentioned methods and argues that all the methods are impractical and cannot be used in large scale.
