The reading and the listening both are about the old cultural artifacts which are important tools to study the roman civilization. The author believes that science of archeologist faces many serious problems during the study of historical things. He provides three main problem to support the statement. The lecturer challenges the statement made by the writer. He is of opinion that new laws and new guidelines has provided vast opportunities for researchers to conduct the research.
First of all, the writer suggests that excessive population is the cause of industrialization, which brings many new constructions in the Britain. It is mentioned that new construction diminishes many old artifacts. However, the lecturer challenges this point by asserting that new guidelines make it clear that construction can not progress until the artifacts and old documents are not preserved. He claims that first researchers will check the old documents and after their permission construction work can go in the process.
Secondly, the writer thinks that financial support for archeologist is very less. He says that due to change in the priorities of the government, the funds and grants are not given to the researchers, so most of the significant research project could not established. The lecturer, on, the other hand, posits that new guidelines has assured that funds and financial support will be provided by the construction company. This is the other way to increase the financial support for the archeological department.
In the last, it is stated that, there are very few jobs in the archeology line and sometimes researchers are not paid. The author asserts that most of the researcher change their career because of the unemployment in this field. The lecturer, on the flip side, rebuts that high-salary jobs are created for the experts. On the different stage of the research different people will do work and, in this way, number of jobs are increased in the research science.
