Whereas the author of the reading states that woman's portrait is not painted by the artist, the lecturer suggests that it is real paintings which is proven by latest studies. To begin with, according to the reading, Rembrandt who is plays one's card close to one's chest would never made mistake which is arising from caution. To put it more simply, he draw a woman who wears workers cap and extremely expensive fur. However, the lecturer disputes this point. She says that, real painting was changed by somebody who tried to raise its price after hundred years.
Secondly, the reading states that Rembrandt was good at illustrate light and shadow, but this painting has few errors caused by spotlight. Nevertheless, the lecture refutes this argument. She argues that original illumination removed, although real painting had great decision of light and shadow.
Finally, the reading claims that even though Rembrandt used wooden panels, he never utilized panel glue. On the other hand, the lecturer believe that the more wooden panel added to expanding its size because of the cost but real painting expected that made by single piece of wood like Rembrandt was used.
In a nutshell, although the reading and the lecture are both about Rembrandt's some creation need to considered real or not, the three main points made in the reading are effectively challenged by the lecture.
