The graph below shows the demand for electricity in England during typical days in winter and summer. The pie chart shows how electricity is used in an average English home.

The line graph describes how much electricity people in England need in typical days in winter and summer, and the pie chart illustrates the amount of electricity for different uses in an average English home. Overall, the electricity need in the cold season is larger than that in the hot season; the main use of electricity is in heating system.

Starting with the first graph, the need for electricity in winter fluctuates more dramatically during 24 hours. The first three hours witnesses a moderate rise from about 34000 to 40000 units, then followed by a greater dip to 30000 units at 8:00. In the following 14 hours, the electricity need increases steadily, peaking at nearly 50000 units at 22:00, afterwards declining to the beginning point at 24:00. However, the demand for electricity in summer remains stable at around 18000 units, with peaks at 20000 units at 14:00 and 23:00 respectively.

Turning now to the pie chart, the electricity in heating room and water is the largest at 52.5%, which triples that in ovens, kettles and washing machines at 17.5%. The proportion of lighting, TV and radios is the same as that of vacuum cleaners, food mixers and electric tools (15%), taking up the smallest part.
