The two maps show how a small town named Islip is planned to change in comparison with its current layout.
It is clear that this Centre’s layout will modify dramatically with more amenities.
Currently, this Centre has a main road running from west to the east, with two short lanes. The lane in the west leads to a school, but at the end of the shorter eastern one is a park. Between those two lanes, there are two ranges of shops along the side of the road, with housing in the south and a countryside area located in the north.
The plan is to totally change its layout in a circular area for pedestrians only, which will be covered by a dual carriageway. Therefore, the countryside and the main road will be eradicated, but the row of shops on its southern side will remain intact. The other side of the old road will witness the construction of a bus station, a shopping centre and a car park respectively from west to east. The school will remain unchanged outside the circle, but a park is planned to be diminished and located inside the pedestrian area. Beside some residential areas that are now exist, there will be a new one on the right of the car park and another on the left of the park.
