Given is the table providing statistical information about the amount of people living in poor conditions in Australia in 1999. From an overall perspective it can be noted that, the average level of poverty was 11 % and approximately the half of it consisted of couples with children.
As will be observed, sole parents were ranked the first with 21% and were marginally ahead of sole person without children. Analyzing the chart more carefully, it reveals that couples without children were better off than the couples who had children.(12 % opposed to 7 %).
