Overall, expenditure on teachers’ salaries, insurance, and furniture and equipment showed an upward trend during the twenty years, while that on other workers’ salaries and resources e.g. books a downward trend.
There was an increase in the expenditure on teachers’ salaries, insurance, and furniture and equipment in the twenty years. Teachers’ salaries, with 40%, took up the largest proportion in 1981 and rose to 50% in 1991 before slightly falling back to 45% in 2001, which stood still at the highest position. Meanwhile, the amount of money on furniture and equipment, equal to that on resources such as books (15%) in 1981, rose to 23% in 2001 after suffering a great dip at 5% in 1991. Also, the two decades witnessed a rise can be seen in the spending on insurance from 2% to 8%, a fourfold rise.
However, the amount of money on other workers’ salaries and resources e.g. books experienced a decrease over the period of twenty years. The percentage of other workers’ salaries presented declined from 28% in 1981 to 15% in 2001, almost a double drop. In the meantime, a dip can be seen in the proportion of resources e.g. books from 15% to 9%, despite a peak at 20% in 1991.
