At the other extreme, all four indicators of Peru were significantly higher than those of Zaire. Both annual income per individual measurement of Peru($US160) and Zaire($US130) were approximately one percent of that of Japan. Peru and Zaire had the same life expectancy at birth, which were around 50 years. Individual daily calorie of Zaire(1749 calories) was a half of that of Canada. Finally, adults literacy rate of Zaire was a half of Peru and about one third of the figure for Canada and Japan, representing 34%.
