eco certification
The reading and the lecture are both about eco certification which it is issued for a wood company for having ecological standards. The author asserts that American wood companies don’t seek to get eco certification for 3 reason. The lecturer challenges the statements made by the author. He is of the opinion that these claim are completely correct.
First of all, the author claims that American people don’t pay attention for advertising claims, generally. This argument is challenged by the lecturer. He says people don’t act the same at different advertising. They distinguish between claims that the company present for their own products and claims that it is related to independence agency giving certificate for the products
Secondly, the writer contends that US people tend to choose cheaper products and low price is motivated them rather than a manufacturer. The lecturer, however, rebuts this by asserting that although US people care alot about price, but it is when the prices are so competitive so that price difference of a same product is high. If the prices are close to each other, they will care about the factory.
Finally, it is stated in the article that American companies are satisfied when they sell their products abroad in addition, inside the United State. The lecturer, on the other hand, posits this by mentioning that they want attend foreign countries not also to attract the foreign consumers but also for foreign competition because if they can not rival with foreign companies, these companies that have eco certification, take the United States markets in their hand. So the wood companies in the US have to seek eco certification in the competition with foreign companies.
