The diagrams below show the stages and equipment used in the cement-making process, and how cement is used to produce concrete for building purposes.
The first flow diagram illustrates the process of cement production, and the second diagram shows how the finished concrete is made.
It is clear that cement is made using two main raw materials, and that manufacturing process consists of five distinct stages. Meanwhile, it requires only one step to turn cement, along with three different ingredients, into concrete.
At the first stage in the production of cement, limestone and clay are passed through a crusher machine. Next, the resulting powders are mixed together, and then injected into a rotating heater. During this step, the mixed powder is heated and rotated simultaneously. The heated powder can then be ground to create cement. Finally, the finished product is packaged in large bags.
Cement is one of the four major materials which are utilised to produce concrete. Looking at the information in more details, the finished concrete production contains 15% of cement, 10% of water, 25% of sand, and 50% of small stones known as gravel. The whole of materials are blended together in a rotating machine called a concrete mixer.
