Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they cast doubt on specific points made in the reading passage.
In this set of material the writer and the lecturer are discussing about the ecocertification offered by an international organization. It is debated that while companies over the world want to receive this certificate, American companies also pay attention to it, or not. The writer and the lecturer are totally against each other. Although the writer claims that American people do not interest in ecocertificate for some reasons, the lecturer states that the American companies also want to gain it. The lecturer refutes the writer’s opinion with the following detail and examples.
Firstly, while the writer points out that Americans do not trust advertising that shows a product is high produced or valued, the lecturer opposes this. The lecturer states that Americans distinguishes the difference between real and exaggerated advertises and they trust dependent organizations. Thus they believe ecocertificataion given by an international organization.
Furthermore, although in the writing passage, it is stated that American people tends to buy cheap products without any attention to product’s quality, the lecturer asserts that price is not the only criteria that Americans decide depends on. Their decision based on price only when one competing product is higher or lower than another. However, when the prices are different between two products is small, American people pay attention other qualifications of products when they decide to buy something.
Moreover, the writer claims that American companies generally trade in the domestic field, so they do not need any international certificate. On the contrary, the lecturer states that paying attention to ecocetificatation is not only related to foreign market, it is also related to domestic market. Because if domestic American companies do not interest in the ecocertification, due to the respect of American people to ecocertificated products, foreign companies will start to crowed into American market.
All in all, the lecturer totally opposes the writer’s claims. She rejects the writer’s assertations in all aspects and demonstrates us that ecocertification is highly important in American trade market.
