Overall, the average producer of carbon dioxide was the highest in UK whereas, Portugal produced the least carbon dioxide. Average carbon dioxide emission in UK and Sweden declined over the period while in Italy and Portugal it increased.
At the beginning of the period in United Kingdom about 11 Metric tonnes of Carbon dioxide were emitted and it showed marginal decrease of about 0.1 In 1977. After that the figure kept on decreasing steadily till it reached around 9 metric tonnes at the end of the period. Similarly carbon dioxide emission in Sweden decrease with some fluctuations.in 1967 approximately 9 metric tonnes of CO 2 was produced and it reached a peak of more than 10 metric tonnes in 1977.The emission showed dramatic decrease to 7 metric tonnes in 1987 and kept on decreasing till it reached around 5.5 in 2007.
Italy’s emission accounted for around more than 4 metric tonnes and it kept on increasing dramatically till it outnumbered Sweden in 1987. The emission increased to more than 6 metric tonnes in 1997 and it remained constant till 2007. In addition Portugal produced more than 1 metric tonnes in 1967 and the figure kept on increasing rapidly to about 4.5 metric tonnes in 1997.After 1997 the change was little till 2007 and it outran Sweden
