In spite of the advances made in agriculture, many people around the world still go hungry.
Why is this the case?
What can be done about this problem?
In the past few decades, due to technological advancements, many new methods have immersed on how to grow crops effectively and efficiently. Despite all the agricultural advancements many third world nations are still dying of hunger. This essay will first suggest the biggest problem associated with lack of cultivation is because the majority of the region is affected by drought and then submit building and investing in hydroponic farming as the most workable solution.
The foremost difficulty in providing enough food around the globe is because most of this area is affected by drought. If the land has abnormally low rainfall it leads to the shortage of water and in turn, the quality of the soil is depreciated over time. For cultivation, the farmer needs a good supply of water, mineral-rich soil and plenty of sunlight, without which it can be a disaster. Africa is one of the continents where people are dying of hunger and the main cause is lack of rainfall.
To deal with the above difficult situation a possible solution would be to build hydroponic farms. Hydroponic farms need nominal initial investment like space, water, and artificial mineral substitutions which in the long run would be beneficial for the country. Saudi Arabia has recently invested in establishing hydroponic farms and the result is very promising, as it can reduce food scarcity problems drastically.
To conclude, the dry spell is one of the foremost challenges faced by many countries due to which people are not getting enough food, which causes death and despair, but a possible solution could be to build hydroponic farms like the Middle East. Moreover, it is believed that more and more countries will opt for this solution to fight against hunger problems.
