The reading and lecture both discuss the endonosaurs' migration hypothesis. While the reading provides three claims to support the migration of dinosaurs from north to south slope in winter time in order to survive, the professor refutes, saying none of these claims are convincing.
Firstly, the reading avers that the endmontasour migrate to the south slope to find food during the winter season. On the other hand, the professor questions this idea by saying that they do not have to move during the winter to find food. This is because in the past, this area was warmer than today. In addition, the sun was twenty four hours at the north slope. So, it was enough for plants to grow . As a result, there was a lot of vegetation during the summer. Moreover, when these plants die during the winter, all animals can eat these died plants to survive. So, there is no need for these animals to leave the north slope.
In addition, the article mentions that the edmontosaurus' fossil avers that these animals were living in herds. So, they might migrate in herds. However, the professor contradicts this idea by pointing out that animals live in herds for many reasons other than migration. For instance, the live in herds for protection from any predators. For example, elik live in north United states and they are living in herds, but they do not migrate.
Lastly, the reading mentions that the edmontosaurs would able to migrate because they were running so fast to reach long distance. Nevertheless, the professor states that these animals had young juvinle. Furthermore, these youngs would not be able to live on their own. So, they could not leave their young alone. So, they stayed together at the north slope.
