Society seems to pay less attention to women's sports than to men's sports. Why do you think this is the case? Is it a positive or negative trend?
Sports are enjoyed by everyone. However, it is a common belief that, less attention is devoted towards the women's sports in our society due to various reasons. I do believe that, it is a negative development.
To begin with, due to many reasons women's sports often not welcomed as same as men's sports. Since many societies are male dominated, they love to watch the males sports. Despite of watching the women's sports, audience likes to see them as cheerleaders, commentators and in the advertisement. Although strong marketing companies are ready to fund for the men's sports, this is not in the case of women's sports. To cite an example, in the cricket premier league in India, with male players, received a marketing budget of 1 million in 2017. In contrast, the world cup winners of the Indian women's cricket team was unnoticed because of the lack of funding and support from the government and media.
I think this is a negative trend and will create many issues in the society. If this type of development continues, it will increase the gender gap in society. That is why, many wives of famous players recognized in the society by only with their husband's name. Even if media encourage the women's sports, many women nay got motivated to do many things in their lives. Hence, women those who are not only talented in sports, but also experts in other fields come forward. Having collaborative efforts of both men and women would affect the economy of a country in a positive way.
To summarize this topic, I would like to emphasize that, women's sports should give same importance like men's sports since it will cut the gender gap. Then of course country will get social and economic benefits.
