Learning is a continuous process of understanding and acquiring knowledge. There are several ways of learning and self learning is one of them. With the virtue of self discipline a student can learn in a better way. For learning motivation and guidance of teachers plays an important role but one oneself is the greatest motivator. So learning is primarily a matter of personal discipline; students cannot be motivated by school or college alone.
A teacher or a professor can give correct direction to the student to achieve the success. But to follow the path student should be self disciplined and punctual. Here self disciplines refers to many qualities like time management, regularity, punctuality etc. School or college can only teach and motivate the student to acquire these virtues, but to adapt them and behave accordingly is the role of the student.
In ancient time there were no schools and colleges, but that time also people were learning and gaining knowledge.These all shows the personal discipline and self learning of preliminary people. Now a days school and college facilities are sources of motivation for the students. So student can get appropriate direction and inspiration and through the learning process acquire knowledge.
Along with personal discipline student should be self motivated and should decides his goal in life. In the process of learning goal should be there in the mind and student should do hard work accordingly to achieve the goal. Take example of Eklavya, who was a self motivated and disciplined student and decided to achieve 'Dhanur Vidhya'. By personal discipline and continuous process of learning, finally he got succeeded.
Schools and colleges can be said as a step in the path of learning .They can provide the sources of learning and inspiration and guidance for proper learning. With this proper motivation and self discipline a student can acquire more and more knowledge and can achieve highest goal of his life.
