The table describes the proportion of the UK workers in four different sectors, i.e. hotel & catering, building, technology, and education, divided into five age groups, in 1998 and 2006. In overview, in 1998, technology was the least preferable job among all sectors in both young and elderly people, while in 2006, it becomes the most popular occupation in the age group of 26-35 years old.
In more details, over all age groups, the preference of the UK residents working in technology sector experienced a sharp increase, while a dramatic decrease was surveyed in building sector. Two other sectors, hotel & catering and education were reported to have fluctuated progressions. Meanwhile, the number of British people working in education sector experienced a slight rise in only two age groups, 26-35 and 36-45 years old, while other groups underwent otherwise.
