The bar chart below illustrates the proportion of three different kinds of economic sectors contributing to the UK economy in one hundred years from 1990 to 2000.
From the graph we can see that, the trends of the agriculture and manufacturing were both downward. Even though there was a slight raise of agriculture from below 50% in 1990 to more than it in 1950, it suffered a dramatical decrease when it came to 1975, to only about 10%. The percentage went down to below 5% directly in 2000. In comparison with the former, the manufacturing declinede gradually, from 45 per cent in 1900 to about 15% in 2000, eventually. By contrast, the trend of business and financial services was upward significantly. In 1990, the data was less than 5%, however it considerably became more than 30% at the end of the century.
In particular, both agriculture and manufacturing made more contributions to british economy than business and financial services at the first half of the century. While business and financial services has passed agriculture in1975. Then it had became the dominant contributor which contributed 35% to the UK economy at the end of the century.
