The given chart illustrates the changes of trend of 5 countries’ citizens who were put into jail in half century from 1930 to 1980.
At a first glance, Great Britain and United States both had an increase in the prisoner. At 1980, the imprisonment number of United States reaches the highest, at 140 thousands, 40 greater than 50 years before.
Britain’s imprison number at 1930 meet at 30 thousands, and it remains for a decade, then it gradually increases and 3 times the beginning after 5 decades. However, Australia, unlike former, shows a fluctuation in the whole period, and nearly 10 thousands lower than 1930 at 1980.
Both New Zealand and United States keeps 100 thousands at 1930, but then the difference exceeds, and shrink back again in following decades eventually.
All numbers of imprisonments have a great vary after the period, especially United States, its number of illegal people replaces Canada as the highest at 1980.
