The diagram illustrates the process of how geothermal energy is used in the production of electricity.
Overall, there are five main steps to produce electricity which is starting from pumping down cold water into the geothermal zone and it ends when energy is transferred to the electrical grid.
In the first step, a vast amount of water is stored in a tank and then pumped down 4.5 km underground. Next, the water is injected into geothermal zone where the cold water is heated up with hot rocks. Once it reached the production well, hot water is pumped up into the condenser. The last two stages are carried out on the ground at the power plant. Steam is produced in the condenser and then, it passes into the turbine and makes it spin. Finally, the generator is powered by turbine and the system enables to produce electricity. Then, it is transferred into the electrical grid via power lines.
