Overall, the city underwent a significant modernization over the given period, becoming less green and more built-up.
In 1995, there were trees in both north-west and south-east corners of the city, while by 2010 they had been cut down and replaced by apartment blocks and an airport, respectively. The factory located left to the city centre was knocked down and converted into a shopping centre. The housings in the east of the city were removed, so that skyscrapers could be built on their location. another notable change is the demolition of the church to make way for a pub.
In 1995, the city had only one station, which was south of the city centre, whereas by 2010 another one hat been introduced in the north of the city. In addition, a football stadium was constructed adjacent to the southern station. over a period of fifteen, the main road in the city centre was pedestrianized.
