The reading discusses several reasons why humans cannot live on Venus. However, the lecturer finds the ideas dubious and cast doubts on the reasons proposed by the reading passage.
First, the author argues that Venus's atmospheric pressure is extremely high, which has the ability to crush and annihilate everything landed on it. Conversely, The lecturer brings up the idea that scholars could have made some floating stations like balloons above Venus's surface,15 kilometers above its surface, where the pressure is more likely to what human experienced on earth.
Furthermore, the reading passage holds the view that Venus lacks reservoirs of water and oxygen, so human being cannot survive in that situation and should supply water from the earth. On the contrary, the professor underlines the fact that since Venus has compounds like carbon dioxide and sulfuric acid, it is not necessary to import water from the earth to there, as scientists can make water from these compounds.
Finally, the reading passage asserts that Venus' surface is hardly exposed to sunlight. Moreover, most of the lights will be reflected back to space. Therefore it is difficult to make solar power cells. In contrast, the speaker dismisses the issue due to the fact that in the altitude of 15 kilometers from the surface, the clouds are less thicker. Additionally, they can use both the light emitted to the surface and reflected back for electricity generation purposes.
