The passage mentions about recent study archaeologist did on a fossil of a 150 million year old mammals known as R.Robustus(R.R) and having said that the mammal`s stomach contained remains of a psittacosaur dinosaurs. And the lecturer provides evidences that R.R hunted the dinosaurs.
Firstly, in the passage, R.R was only the size of domestic cat and it is unlikely that it could hunt such tall full grown dinosaurs. And the lecturer refutes the point having said that R.R could have hunted a baby dinosaurs as they are smaller than the giant dinosaurs.
Secondly, the passage mentions that R.R were much suited for scavening than hunting as they were short and this feature suggested they did not chase after pray. And the lecturer claims that Tesmania devil that has speed of 15km/hr was an active and successful hunter which showed that why not R.R ?
Thirdly, passage mentions about the bones found inside the stomach of the R.R that had no marks of teeth so they could have swallowed the eggs of the dinosaurs and were not an active hunter. And the lecturer claims that, they had powerful jaws to hold and grab their preys and they did`t used back teeth for chewing the prey and could have swallowed with no scars of teeth in their bones.
Thus, in this way, the lecturer responds or challenges to the points made in the passage.
