These six pie charts illustrate the proportion of water used for three different purposes in six regions of the world.
Overall, it is clear that almost all areas use water for agricultural purposes and all regions least likely use the water for domestic purposes.
To begin with, Central Asia has the highest proportion of the use of water in their agricultural sector at 88%, followed by Africa and South East Asia at 84% and 81%, respectively. In contrast, South America's use of water in their agriculture is just above three-quarters, wherein it is more than half of the proportion for North America and Europe.
With regards to industrial use, Europe is leading at 53%, followed by North America, having only one in twenty difference. South East Asia and South America almost has a similar percentage for their Industrial purposes at 12% and 10%, accordingly and the two areas has less than one in ten in proportion. On the other hand, South America Europe and South America use more water for domestic purposes compared to Central Asia, South East Asia and Africa.
