Dear Alex,
I hope you are well, I am writing this letter to you to inform that I will not be able to attend the play on this Saturday night. I understand that I have purchased two tickets in advance for me and you, however, I just received a telephone call from my manager and he requested me if I can cover the evening shift on this Saturday. Unfortunately, no one is available to work on that day so he insisted me and I could not say no to him since he heavily rely on me and trust me.
However, my cousin Anne is in town and interested in seeing the play on Saturday so she can join you if it is alright with you. I can also send the tickets along with her so you do not have to worry about picking them up.
Please let me know your thoughts about it. In the future, I will make sure this does not happen again. Please accept my sincere apologies.
Yours sincerely
Dave
