The topographic depiction below illustrates the two potential sites for a novel supermarket intended for the town of Garlsdon, whose population density is 65,000. The proposed site S1 is located in the northwest of Garlsdon and the site S2 is towards the south of Garlsdon.
The first possible site S1 is located in the outskirts of Garlsdon. About 12km afar from S1 is Hindon whose population density is 10,000. A rail route passes through Garlsdon from the northwest to the south east. There is also a main road which originates from the industrial area crosses through the country side towards Hindon. The site being located in the outer region provide huge area for parking.
The potential site S2 is located at the heart of the town which is a restricted parking zone . A rail line goes through the Town centre. The site S2 is surrounded by industries all around. Towards the north and south of S2 are two housing areas respectively. A main road originates from the industrial area on the south west of the town and passes through the outskirts towards Bransdon which is 16 km away and has a population of 15,000. Another main road begins from the south east and goes through the countryside all the way to Cransdon, 25 km away with a population of 29,000.
In conclusion the proposed site S1 being located in the outskirts is easily accessible to the population of Hindon and the people in the housing area situated in the north only. Meanwhile S2 is more accessible to the people in the housing area in the south, Bransdon and Cransdon. The public transport system can be easily accessed to both the proposed sites.
