For years, nations have exploited natural resources in hope for economic gains. More and more natural resources are being sacrificed to meet the increasing demand for urbanisation and industrialisation. With drastically changing environmental conditions, it has become extremely crucial, now a days, to preserve what little wilderness areas we are left.
Dwindling wilderness and augmenting industries leads to air pollution which causes damage to both life and property. The increasing concentration of air pollutants has led to an increase in breathing problems, skin diseases and eye infections. Air pollution has been on the top of the list of the environmental problems being faced by the nations worldwide. Nations are trying to come up with ways where they can reduce the amount of pollutants being released into the environment every year. By preserving the natural reserves, is one way, we can prevent exacerbating the issue of air pollution.
In recent years, due to global warming, we have experienced a dramatic change into environment. Global warming has led to a number of environmental issues such as melting of glaciers, change in timing of seasonal events and increase in sea level. Deforestation being the main cause of global warming urges nations to protect forests and prevent any further activity that might lead to a change in the natural state of such areas.
But this does not mean we can not benefit from wilderness areas at all. By preserving the natural state of these areas we can still gain economic benefits. For instance, wildlife sanctuaries and natural reserves provide both economic and environmental benefits. They preserve the natural state of the areas along with providing for great tourist spots supporting the tourist industry and thus providing economic gains.
Thus, I agree that nations should pass laws to preserve any remaining wilderness areas in their natural state to prevent any further damage to the environment.
