summarize the points made in the lecture you just heard on tidal power, explaining how they cast doubt on the points made in the reading
The source describes the technology available to generate electrical energy using tides. The reading describes the importance of the tidal power energy which could generate four periods of energy every day. Meanwhile, the professor brings drawbacks of using tidal power, how it will affect the environment.
Firstly, the reading claim that tidal power is renewable, non-polluting, and contributes no greenhouse gases to the atmosphere.in addition, this energy provides a useful energy supplement to other sources like fossil fuel. The lecture contradicts this point by acknowledging that, tidal power is harmful to the environment , the quality of the water located near the industrial area is contaminated this will harm local wildlife. Moreover, the increase in solvents in seawater will affect birds and fish.
Secondly, the passage tells us that, dams are constructed to produce electrical energy using tide are very resourceful, as coastal region experience two high tides and two low tides using this we can produce four periods of energy just over 24hours. Notwithstanding technology professor highlighted that, this dams will affect birds and fish who migrate they won't be able to pass the barraged. Due to this fish are getting existent. In addition. People who live near the costal region, especially fisherman they could not be able to navigate and this will abate in economic growth
Finally, the speaker articulated that, although tidal power provides some contribution to the production of energy at the regional level we should consider there are many drawbacks. So she suggests using alternative energy production.
