The bar graph depicts information on the percentage of films viewed in the United Kingdom and Australia in 2001. Meanwhile, the line graph compares the trend in the number of movie goers in the same countries from 1976 to 2005.
Generally, US films were more preferable in the UK and Australia than the other types of movies by country of origin. It is also clear that there was an increasing trend in the number of admissions in the cinema.
In 2001, US films received the highest market share in the UK at 76 % which was almost four times that for British movies at 20 %. Over 10 % of Australian films were marketable while the other films had 4 %. Similarly, Australians also chose US films at 67 % than all other movies with about 24 % combined.
In terms of viewers, the UK stood with over 100 Million attendees in 1976 but significantly slid to a low of about 60 Million in 1984. From 1985, this figure gradually rose reaching a peak of over 165 Million in 2003 before tailing off at around 155 Million in 2005. Conversely, Australia had a steady increase in its admission rate starting from 30 Million in 1975 reaching to 80 Million by the end of the period. By comparison, both countries have a difference of over 30 Million in 1975 and 2005.
