In June 1996, an experimental flu vaccine was trialled in a large country town on females only.
The diagrams outline the outcomes of flu vaccine trial among females in a big town in June 1996. Overall, the experimental flu vaccine was not effective in terms of its results on female.
In the bar chart, it is interesting to note that from March to May, the flu was responsible for the deaths of 1 female while 4 females deaths compared to 1 male death during the next period of June to August. The pie chart shows that only 72% females most at risk was given flu vaccine whereas the remaining 28% did not take part in. Females over 65 years old, babies, children and who were hospitalized made up for 35%, 24%, 13% respectively.
According to the line graph, females starting from the same point as males to reach a peak of 3500 in June while the latter was 2600 cases. The figure declined considerably to just under 2500, at the similar pattern with males throughout the epidemic.
