These two charts represent the weight measurement of residents of Charlestown and they compare the changes between 1955 and 2015.
From the second table, we can observe that most people having lived in Charlestown were healthy in terms of their weight; about 60% of all inhabitants belonged to the “ideal weight” category. However, we should note that not small number of people suffered from underweight in 1955. From the figure, we can see that the underweight people accounted for about 30% of the total population, and the probability of underweight was over 40% among people aged 60 to 69.
However, the trend in weight assessment had drastically changed over 60 years. Firstly, people in Charlestown had become unhealthier; the proportion of people belonged to the ideal weight category had diminished in all age groups. In addition, while almost all the problems regarding weight were underweight in 1955, obesity was the most serious issue in 2015; Although the probability of obesity was quite small in a younger population, about 60% of elderly people (aged 60 to 69) suffered from the obesity. This trend is highly opposed to the situation in 1955.
