The chart below shows the percentage of population in three different age group in Japan.
Summarize the information by selecting and reviewing the main features, and make comparison where relevant.
The presented line graph compares 3 age groups in terms of the percentages of total Japanese population they have occupied from 1960 to 2040.
Overall, it is evident that the oldest group account for the highest proportion over the period. In addition, while the figure for citizens aging from 15 and 64 are expected to increase, opposite trends are predicted for two remaining categories.
Turning into detail, about 65% of Japanese residents aged more than 65 years in 1960. Over the next 5 decades, despite fluctuations, the rate was always kept above 60%. Throughout the remainders of the period, it is anticipated to slightly decline to approximately 55%, but still remain the largest sector among 3 counterparts.
Regarding to other categories, in comparison to the youngest group, which made up 30% of entire population in 1960, the percentage for citizens aging 15 to 65 was significantly lower, with only over 5%. Nevertheless, in the next 40 years, while the former decreased remarkably, the latter considerably expanded, which made them obtain similar numbers of nearly 15% in 2000. From 2000 to 2040, both trends are projected to maintain, resulting in the final figures of 10% and over 30%, respectively.
