the pie chart below show units of electricity production by fuel source in Australia and France in 1980 and 2000.
The pie charts compare the resources of electricity in Australia and France from 1998 to 2000. From the par charts it is immediately apparent that resources were doubled from 100 units to 170 in Australia and also from 90 to 180 units in France.
To begin with, in 1989 the main source to produce electricity in Australia was coal, just half of total production. The remainder of electricity was provided via hydro power, natural gas (each producing 20 units), and oil (10 units). Whereas on the other hand, 75% of total electricity by 2000 was produced through coal, 130 units. The other significant fuel was hydro power with 36 units at the same time.
In contrast, France used coal as a fuel source only with 25 units that had been matched with natural gas in 1980. Remaining 40 units were supplied from oil, nuclear power, and hydro power (5 units). Though quite the opposite, nuclear power that had not been appeared as a fuel in Australia, by 2000 was the greatest source to produce electricity (126 units). Other sources were not longer noticeable.
To sum up, by 2000 both countries relied on different major fuel source: Australia relied on coal and France on nuclear power.
