The line graph indicates the proportion of the commodity was exported by Australian to 4 different countries over six periods between 1990 and 2012.
Overall, it is clear that Japan stayed the highest position in 1990. However, the first rank was replaced by China hence 2005.
In detail, the figure for exports to Japan standing at 27%, twice as the figure for the US in 1990 while only small minority of exports were to China and India, just 2% or less. However, the decreasing number of exports to Japan and the US can be explained by increasing the figures for China and India in a decade, Japan (19%), US (13%), China (5%), India (3%).
After 2000, the percentage of exports to Japan continued its decreasing trend, accounted for 18% in 2012. The figures for the US saw a similar pattern of steady fall to 6% in 2010 before rising to 7% in 2012. Opposite the trend, there was significant growth for the proportion of exports to China in 2012, made up at 30%, which was nearly five times compared to the figures for India.
