The table shows the percentage of male students aged 6-11 and 12-16 who played football, basketball, cricket, rugby and swimming in 2010 in England.
As an overall, the younger group had higher number of boys who participated in those sports than the older group. Additionally, it is clear from the table that football was played the most in both age groups.
The proportion of football players of the 6-11-group accounted for 87%, which was the highest number. Meanwhile. the figure stood at 78% for the 12-16 group. 35% was the percentage of the boys aged 6-11 who joined in basketball while the other group had smaller proportion, about a quarter. Cricket had the second highest figure in both groups, which were 45% and 34% respectively.
The percentage of students who were interested in playing rugby of the 6-11 group was 23% whereas the other boys who played this sport had a smaller proportion at about 21%. Swimming was the sport which had the least number of students participated in, accounted for just 19% same for 2 groups.
