Government funding in university should only be provided for scholarship for the best student. All other funding can find from student fees and private organizations. To what extend do you agree or disagree?
it is sometimes argued that all the government grants that the university receives should be reserved as a scholarship for the top students and universities can use student fees and private organizations for other fundings. I reckon that the idea of allocating whole government funding for scholarships has flaws. this essay will first discuss this view in the forthcoming paragraph followed by the reasoned conclusion.
To begin with, there are several rationales to justify, why all the government grants should not be provided for scholarships for toppers. On the first hand, this will force institutions to increase learners fees, as the income from students and other private organizations would not be enough to cover the cost of university expenses, viz. investing in innovation, training of postgraduate researchers, maintenance and replacement of infrastructure, cost of subjects as some subjects cost more than others, fieldwork, laboratory and studio work. As a result, scholars will become reluctant to take admission to pursue a professional degree because of the high fees of such institutes, especially pupils from less affluent families, who have to weigh for before making any financial decision.
On the contrary, those who oppose this says that allocating full government grant as a scholarship for top students will motivate them to further excel, Besides it will motivate other students also to work hard to achieve those highly paid scholarships. however, I believe, as government funding to university is a huge amount so universities should implement that money in a balanced way.
To conclude, although, scholarships are necessary for competing students, however, I restate that this should not be the sake of other student's higher fees and putting pressure on private organizations.
