The reading passage explores several reasons that wood companies of United State do not recieve ecocertification for their products. The professor, on the other hand, casts doubt on certain point made in the reading passage by giving more detailed about this issue.
First, the reading claims that american consumers may not pay attention to the ecocertification lable, which is rooted in low trust of american consumers about advertising products. The professor questions this claim, arguing that consumers can distinguish fake advertising and real one. Moreover, this certification claim indipendently and it brings the sense of confidence about products to the ametrican consumers.
Secondly, the reading holds the view that the final price of the products will be increased, leading to a decrease in sailing products. In contrast, the professor dismisses this issue due to the fact that for the products that cost only 5 or less dollors cost, it is not logical to omit the ecocertification which has a little price in comparison with the total price of product. In addition, American consumers know about the valu of preservation of the environment.
Finally, the reading points out that American wood companies sell most of their their products in the United State and they export a little amout of their products. O the contrary, the professors underlines the fact that wood companise compete not only with their own country companies but also with their foreign wood companies in order to make more profit. Therefore, it is essential for America wood companies to use ecocertification to capture both foreign and domestic consumers.
