Transport Modes in a European City 1960-2000
The bar chart describes the transport modes preferred by travellers in a European city from 1960 to 2000 shown in percentage.
In 1960, instead of using vehicles, most of the travellers would rather explore European city by foot – 34%. Another 25% of them chose bicycle. Motor vehicles, bus and car, were the least popular means whose percentage of tourists using both modes was 18% and 6% respectively.
The condition was quite different in 1980 where tourists were more into public transportation than any other modes – 25% of them exploring the city by bus, 22% by car, 20% by bike, and only 17% by foot.
Meanwhile, in 2000, the most favorite transportation mode was car rocketed from 22% in 1980 to more than 35%. The mass transportation, bus, was not so popular as before – 16%. Furthermore, in contrast to 1960, tourists seemed to leave these two eco-friendly transport modes – foot and bike. Foot was choosen by less than 10% tourist, while bike was preferred by 6% of them.
