The chart below show the percentage of water use by different sectors in sydney, Australia, in 1997 and 2007.
The presented pie charts depict information about how much water was consumed by various sectors classified into building industry, food industry, service industry, manufacturing and household use in Sydney, Australia over two separate years.
At first glance, it is immediately obvious that while the shares of water usage in terms of two sectors experienced rises, there were declines in the remaining three. Moreover, food industry contributed the largest proportion of consumed water throughout the survey, whereas building industry had the smallest share.
When observing data in more detail, water usage to food industry accounted for the most significant proportion of total water with standing at 48% in 1997 and decreased slightly to reach the point of 41% in 2007. In comparison, the percentage of water for service industry was responsible for less than a fifth of all water use in 1997, but this share went up substantially by a quarter over the course of a decade.
Turning to rest of description, the share of industry sector in water usage was initially as high as that of domestic use, 15%, but while the former steadily dropped by 11%, the latter witnessed a rise reaching just over a fifth. The contribution of building industry had fallen minimally from 5% to 2%.
