The lecturer challenges the claims made by the author. She is of the opinion that a professors appearances on TV are not beneficial.

To begin with, the author argues that it is good for professors to appear on TV because they can gain good reputation. A lot of viewers will know more about their journals; thus, this makes their importance enhanced. This specific argument is challenged by the lecture. She claims the professor appears on TV may not be taken seriously. Hence, people may think this only for entertainment and not an important academy work.

Secondly, the writer suggests that appearing on TV can have a positive feedback on the universities as well. Moreover, this can lead to more donations and more applications from students. The lecturer, however, rebuts this by mentioning that the professors waste a lot f time in preparing for TV guesting. Additionally, the lecturer says that time should be spend
instead for researching.

Finally, the author posits that professors appear on television, viewers have a chance to learn from expert. Moreover, it is stated in the article that a lot of people do not have the chance to meet the professors; therefore it is a chance to learn from them through television. In contrast, the lecturer’s position is that the program is not really for intellectual purposes but it is more of entertainment. In addition, there is no difference when we watch a reporter telling some news.
