The pie charts provide information about the proportion of household expenditures between Japan and Malaysia in 2010. The data are shown in percentage. Overall, it can be seen that the greatest household expenditure in Japan was other goods and services, whereas in Malaysia there was housing became the biggest over the period. Both people in Japan and Malaysia least amount of their expenditure was on Health care.
Looking first at two categories, Japan was the greatest percentage of expenditure on other goods and services (29%), while in Malaysia on other goods and services accounted for just 26% of the total. Likewise, Japanese expenditure was higher on transport than the Malaysian by 10% at around a fifth and one in ten respectively.
In terms of the remaining expenditures, in Malaysia housing became the biggest proportion with 34%, whereas Japan only 21%. Additionally, Food came in second place in Malaysia with 27% in household expenditure compared with Japan, it was slightly lower with 24%. Lastly, none of the countries spent much on Health Care which was 6% in Japan and under 5% in Malaysia.
