The charts illustrate the differences in the proportion of men and women teaching in six type of educational facilities in the UK in 2010.
In general, it is clear that female teachers accounted for the dominant proportion in secondary and lower schools, contrary to the male teachers who constituted the higher percentages in Private training institute and university. Meanwhile, in college, the number of male and female teachers were equal.
In pre- school and primary school, the men who teaching children made up almost 95% and 90, over 10 times and 9 times higher than female teachers respectively, this disparity was narrowed in secondary school with about 45% of male teachers, 10% higher than that of female teachers.
By contrast, in the Private training institute, the men staffs, which constituted 55% of total employees, were 10% higher than women colleagues, and that female proportion in the university was even lower with only 30%, over 2 times smaller than that of male professors.
